Tom Nolan gets the TKO victory over Renato Moicano in Round 3! A bit of controversy with the fighters being stood in around half way through the 2nd round while Renato had a strong back control position.
Once they stood up, Nolan took over strongly on the feet, applying tremendous pressure that wore Moicano down. Renato looked tired at the start of the third and when Nolan started putting multiple shots together the fight shortly was finished.
Nolan looked phonemonal in his win which surely puts him in a Top 10 fight next, but would the fight have ended differently if Renato was not stood up? We doubt it.
Renato did have a lot of control time, but Tom was doing a great job at defending multiple submission threats. I think that if the fight kept going with Renato finishing the 2nd RD with back control, Nolan would of realised he was down 2 rounds and applied the same pressure in the third round, wearing Moicano down. I think it was inevitable that a KO victory for Nolan was on the horizon, potentially a decision win for Moicano, but I think Nolan's urgency and pressure in the later round would of proved too much in any scenario.
This outcome takes nothing away from either fighter as they both looked phonemionals in their specific areas, but there is no doubt that Tom Nolan is next in the LW division.
